holidays

the holidays came and went so quick
what is it with taking ages to come and what feels like hours to go
maybe its because we have so long to wait we all plan to much then dont have the time nor energy to jam it all in. my holidays where good not great but still good. i surfed not as much as i liked, i planned on shaping a new board but i didnt. what i did do is work and i had fun working i actually dont mind it and it mean ill have a car when im 18 so im happy with that.

i got buried in dings these holidays normally i had doing my own dings but i accepted these ding repairs because i wanted to look and dribble over the boards more then anything.

2 x taj, de souza, cj hobgood and sally fits

i hurt the first shortboard i every shaped myself quite badly one evening at 13th beach beyond repair so these next few shots are a tribute to its life that was taken to soon

                                                                             RIP #3

first glass ons i did they are truly annoying to do but well worth it in the end i went all out and put carbon round the base and on the board to see what would happen. made it heaps stiffer and the tip flex more. worked well but doesnt look that great

this artwork was done by a mate from torquay all done with posca pens best artwork i have ever seen with them by far. i let him go wild and i was blown away with this when i saw it

got a new board to ride as well from Torquay surf/Base
its a Simon actually shaped by the big man himself
a new board yet to be released a tweeked up model that already exists in his range
its 5'11'' x 18 3/4'' x 2 5/16''

RICE RICE BABY!

today i shaped a 9'2'' proper log. the board is similar to a classic george rice board but with a few more modern log tweeks to it. i have wanted to do one of these for ages and as with a lot of my grand ideas they soon get pushed deep within the memory bank for later on when i have the time (if ever). i plan to release as many of these concepts as i can during my school holidays so stay tuned. hopefully im not to busy. cant wait to glass this either because im going to do yellow and black pigment stripes in the nose and a blue tint for the rest and do the full cut laps and all. this will look awesome when its done i guarantee your eyes that. cole

i had a lot of summer fun on small wave shortboards

jeraldean was finished and has been in and out of surgery ever since
note the silver band aid on her a temporary fix i assure you

i also acquired a LSD chubby checker 5'8''x19''x21/4''

i also got a hell new wetsuit ive been wearing mainly while i flounder in the shorebreak or trip over in the rock pools. its a seventhwave wetsuits with vanda screenprinted on it. Vanda and i have been getting them for about two years now and they are insanely warm and very flexible. ive been wearing a 1.5ml unsealed just stitched shortsleeved steamer while my mates are in 3/2's and im as warm as them and can stay out for ages.
the kevlar kneepads are bulletproff literally (hahaha cole) and the ykk zips are solid and strong. check em out here  http://www.seventhwave.co.nz

Dust Bay

Dad decided to donate some of his precious shed to me to make a shaping bay and then eventually a glassing bay on top of it. it is 8 ft by 12 ft long and i have almost finished sealing all the gaps and joins so that i keep my foam dust in and dads wood dust out. hopefully ill be doing boards in here in a week or so.
